Led Tv Or Plasma

LED LCD TVs Vs Plasma TVs

LED LCD TVs S promised here is the comparison of the LED LCD screen with the Plasma Screen. LED has changed the way LCD should be viewed by comparison.
LED TVs contain an LCD display The only difference is the backlight. Rather than the standard florescent backlighting systems of a traditional LCD, LED TVs have LED bulbs (light emitting diode) as the backlight for the LCD Screen. This has enabled LCD TV manufacturers to compete on a much leveller playing field with the Plasma Screen.

PICTURE QUALITY
With an LED backlight, there have been vast improvements in the picture quality of LCD TVs.
The blackest black to the whitest white are now so close to Plasma screens that it is very hard to visually see any difference. Plasma Screens have always in the past been miles ahead on contrast levels, now LCD are so close behind they can tap the plasma on the shoulder and say hi.
Plasma are still ahead here but only by a slim margin. Watch for new developments from both technologies, this fight is getting interesting..

COLOR ACCURACY
In plasma displays, each pixel contains red, green, and blue elements, which work in conjunction to create billions of colours. Where LCD works by filtering the light only allowing the required colour to pass through, has allowed Plasma to remain top at re-producing accurate colour representation, LCD again is right on Plasmas heels again and closing the gap fast, the LED backlight means that the screen is now even brighter and more vivid than it ever was. When it comes to colour, it is now coming down more to preference and room conditions than the technology.

OPTIMAL VIEWING ANGLE
This is where LCD have been able to make their biggest improvement with the LED backlight. Previously with LCD TVs contrast was drastically reduced when viewing the TV from 30 degrees or more off centre. LED Televisions have drastically improved this and the viewing angle can be between 45 degrees and 75 degrees off centre angle before any notable degradation of the picture contrast. Plasma TV technology has always been perfect in this area due to each individual pixel being lit.

BRIGHTNESS

Brightness has always been where LCD have had the advantage now they are even better in this area, LED TVs with bright light emitting diode backlights really bring the screen alive. But as already mentioned watch this fight some Plasma Screen manufactures have already made some vast improvements in this area and are giving LED TVs a run for their money in brightness.

COMPUTER USE AND GAMING

LCD again have always had the edge when it comes to computer usage, with the LED backlight this has pushed them even further out front, the dramatic increase in the refresh rate will make them a computer gamers dream screen

FAST ACTION DISPLAY
Due to the 120/240 refresh rates of many new LED TVs, there is a great improvement in the fast action display of the LED LCD TVs they are now almost level with the Plasma Screen though the background on an LED TV has become a lot more lifelike with the added vividness of the picture leading us to say that in this area both LED and Plasma are now equal.
LIFE SPAN
LED TV manufacturers state they should last for around 100,000 Hours bring them in line with the longest period for Plasma Screens though when an LED light expires its gone, Plasma just gets dimmer.

SCREEN SIZE
Plasma still holds top position for this, even with LED the Screen still utilises the LCD front panel with which the production of large Screens has and continues to prove very difficult, and costly.

Power consumption
Due to global pressure all tv manufacturers have started useing energy saving technology, and have power saving modes built into the units, this results in even power consumption for both models. I should be mentioned the majority of consumers will not use these as the result is dimmer screens.

Summary: though the gap has closed even further, in our minds Plasma is till at the for front and leading the race, LCD is catching fast, and by the time you read this may have surpassed Plasma.
It is so close now though that the best screen for you is going to completely reliant on the size of screen you want where your going to put it, and your personal preference.
